Hello
We are PCPQ
Post Coal Prom Queen are Lily Higham and Gordon Johnstone. PCPQ have developed a unique sound by blending organic textures, retrofuturistic synths, and mechanical beats with ambitious avant garde and pop sensibilities - fused together with Lily's distinct vocals. They have been heard on BBC Radio 1, 6Music, and BBC Radio Scotland, on TV's Made In Chelsea and in the National Library of Scotland film 'Living Proof', charted on Amazing Radio, and garnered international acclaim. Their three critically acclaimed releases - debut PCPQ EP, concept rap album Music for Hypercapitalists, and operatic new LP Music for First Contact - as well as a slew of highly successful live shows, have cemented PCPQ as one of Scotland's most ambitious and promising acts.
PROTOMARTYR
The brand new single from PCPQ - out now (released 26 July 2024).
Protomartyr sees the duo turn their gaze away from the heavens and look towards the surreal world of the microscopic - exploring ideas of ancient gods and the origins of life, but with the band's characteristic human-centric approach. It is the first single from PCPQ since the success of their expansive and operatic album Music for First Contact.
COSMO
CANYON
Cosmo Canyon is a collaboration with the Canadian string duo Pallmer. It was commissioned by the Flourish Festival as part of their Collaboration series. We'll be performing with Pallmer at our shows at the Flourish Festival, Montreal, and Toronto in June 2023. It was recorded at the same time as our album 'Music for First Contact' and can be considered an extension of that universe.
